Description
Very personal to me - for I know the boy in this scene, and he was often so alone. He was my son. I chose to draw this to show my love, and help him remember he is loved, even though he often felt unloved. He became an artist himself, gifted, offered a college class meant only for freshmen after attending a summer art camp, where he won first place. He was 14.
Mixed media - charcoal and pastels, water-soluble paint for the raindrops on the glass window. The curtains are made from a skirt I tore up to use exclusively for this piece. 16 x 24.

In honor of my late son, a much more gifted artist who was just being recognized in the state, was chosen to attend a college summer prep class meant only for freshman art majors that Fall semester (he was 14 years old), and who WON the Grand Prize at this summer camp, got his work displayed in the Buffalo Art Museum, and a letter of congratulations for gifted, beautiful work by the Director of the Museum. He died at age 22, before he had a chance. I'm changing the title to my lifelong nickname for him - Aloushi, a much more loving title for this work that remembers him. Renee Michelle
