I've been yearning to branch out and do something I've never done before, and it's been a couple weeks before I saw these colorful cut glass mosaic tiles lining a flower garden when visiting a friend. I loved the dazzling, colorful display...and this was my inspiration for this piece. It is done mostly with artist grade colored pencils - Faber Castell Polychromos, Prismacolor premiums and Derwent Inktense. I finished off some of the tiles with oil pastels to brigthen the color and add a sense of texture.
I was born with a love for the awesome beauty of nature, especially trees and the incredible variety of greens that paint canopies around the globe. I also discovered the profound abilities of the mind and its wondrous imagination, something that I mastered early in life, having exercised it daily. I learned to love the written word and the magic that books had to take one away to another place. Writing was my first application to share my imagination's creativity. Then I took an art class in college and was in awe of the power to create visual scenes representing anything my mind desired. This is my life now. My passion and saving grace.
